Shaheen Jafargholi isn’t the only youngster capable of giving Susan Boyle a run for the money on Britain’s Got Talent. Ten-year-old Hollie Steel brought down the house on Saturday, April 25, when she broke from a nondescript ballet performance—just as it appeared that Simon was about to buzz her—and burst into song.
The best thing about these three talented contestants is the inspiration they give others to find the strength and courage to chase after their dreams.
Let the games begin!
UPDATE: In her semifinal heat on May 29, Hollie got flustered and bailed out of her song midway through it. Simon Cowell told her she could come back at the end of the show and try again. She did . . . and nailed it. Here’s how the Britain’s Got Talent website described what happened:
After starting excellently, Hollie began to lose her way as she sung the Sound of Music classic, Edelweiss, and after battling on for a verse or so the youngster eventually crumbled and it became obvious that she couldn’t go on any longer.
“Everyone gets nervous,” Simon reassured her before promising to let the Lancashire lass sing again later in the show.
After the break it was then time for Hollie to show her nerves of steel and get back on stage and give everyone the performance we knew she had in her. She sung Edelweiss perfectly the second time around leading Simon to dub her the “bravest girl in the world.”
And here are the results of the semifinal, in which Hollie was chosen to advance to the finals. (Each semifinal includes eight different contestants. Two from each of the five semifinals will advance to the finals on Saturday, May 30.)
Here is Hollie’s performance in the final.
