Daymaker David Wagner

David Wagner’s best-selling book, Life as a Daymaker: How to Change the World Simply by Making Someone’s Day, continues to touch and change lives!

Click here to watch my video interview with David, an internationally acclaimed hairstylist and owner of Juut Salonspas, about his successful battle with cancer.

On Thursday, David sent out a Facebook update, which he introduced by saying: “Does Daymaking change lives? Here is a letter I got today.”

Dear David,

My story has to do with how Juut and the book I was given at the Uptown location “Daymaker” changed my life. I was at the lowest of lows in my life. I had left an abusive situation and at this point backslidden to alcohol to cope. When I left him I was beaten down mentally and physically and was broke. Because of this I ended up in a shelter so I’d guess you’d call it homeless for the first time in my life.

I found Juut going down to Lake Calhoun. I had just received a check so I felt maybe if I treated myself to a foil I’d feel better about myself, because at this point I didn’t even want to go on. I was treated like ROYALTY! They gave me the book and I went down to Lake Calhoun and started reading your life story and how to be a Daymaker. I used that book like it was a morning devotional and still do. This was August 2008. I started to want to live and go forward in my life. So I surrendered my will and went into a program called Healing House. I was healed of so much from the past, things I did not even know that were there.

I now volunteer at Healing House with the children, I went to classes to brush up on my typing and start a class on medical coding in November. I am 52 yrs. old and I know God has a plan for my life. And this all started with that book. I found HOPE that day in August 2008. Thankyou SO much for your Heart for others. And YES I still go to JUUT it is a Godsend for me.

Quote: Don’t miss any opportunity to let someone know you care.

Thank you,

Shelley

What an incredible powerful story! It just goes to show you that you never know how you impact people.

When I see homeless people I always make sure they know that I see them and that they are not invisible. With the Canadian Thanksgiving around the corner I am grateful that there are compassionate people like you who are making a difference in the lives of people.

Thank you for the kind words, Angelina. Sounds like I could take lessons in compassion from you!
