My Never-Before-Published Kids’ Poems!

kids-pick-the-funniest-poems

I had five poems included in a wonderful book called Kids Pick the Funniest Poems. Click here to read the post I wrote about that book.

Here are six more kids’ poems I wrote that I hope will make your kids smile!

BEDTIME

At night, if I’m a sleepyhead,
My Mommy tucks me into bed.
If I’m not tired, that is when
I like my Dad to tuck me in!

‘Cause when I say, “Dad, I love you,”
He does whatever I want him to!
I tell him I’m lucky to be his daughter …
He gets me an ice-cold glass of water!
I tell him my friends like his rugged good looks …
He reads me two of my favorite books!

Then I kiss his cheek with a nice loud smack,
And ask him to pretty please rub my back.
And if I play my cards just right,
I get to stay up half the night!

I’M JUST SUPER!

Sometimes on lazy Sundays,
I while away the hours,
Dreaming of the things I’d do
If I had super powers.

I’d save the world from bad guys
‘Cause I’d be super strong,
I’d throw them all in prison
To teach them right from wrong.

And if I saw an airplane
Running out of fuel,
I’d fly right up to save it,
Then fly right back to school.

And you know what I would do
If I had time to spare?
I’d use my X-ray vision
To see peoples’ underwear!

I wouldn’t cry at all
If my best friend moved away,
I’d use my super speed
To visit her each day!

Even though I don’t have powers,
I guess that it’s okay.
My mommy and my daddy
Think I’m super anyway!

SATURDAY

Most kids in my neighborhood
Sleep late on Saturday,
My dad wakes me up and says,
“C’mon, get up! Let’s play!”

Sometimes we go bowling,
‘Cause that’s my favorite sport,
Or we get our rackets and
Walk to the tennis court.

I won fair and square last week,
At least that’s what he said.
I think he lets me beat him
‘Cause I am just a kid.

All week long I just can’t wait
For Saturday to start!
It’s fun to have a daddy
Who is still a kid at heart!

She and her friends O’played.

THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF JACK AND JILL

Jack and Jill ran up the hill
To get a pail of water,
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.

Jack woke up and said to Jill,
“I feel pretty woozy.”
Jill said, “I don’t blame you!
That last step was a doozy!”

Jack said, “The pail’s empty,
I might as well just toss it.
We’ll get the water that we need
Right from our kitchen faucet!”

FUNNY FACE

Every night at bedtime,
I take off all my clothes,
And then I take my ears off,
And my eyes and mouth and nose.

I jump under the covers
And Mommy tucks me in.
Since I don’t have a mouth,
Her kiss goes on my chin!

One morning when I woke up,
I couldn’t find my nose!
I looked under my pillow,
I looked between my toes.

I looked under my blanket
And behind my teddy bear.
Know where I finally found it?
It was in my underwear!

I’m glad I have a funny face,
There is no doubt about it.
I put it on each morning
And I don’t leave home without it!

Phil, I have to say… I love your poems. I have written a couple… one serious (when John was talking of leaving for Thailand) and one fun… about April and all her girls on “..a week & 1/2 after Christmas.”

  2. Phil Bolsta Says:

Thanks, Vivian, I appreciate that. Yes, it’s fun to creatively express yourself!
