OK Go, a rock band originally from Chicago, created an Internet sensation with their music video for Here It Goes Again, which quickly became known simply as “The Treadmill Video.” Watch and see for yourself why this video has logged over 50 million views on YouTube.
Could OK Go top themselves with their next video? Yep. Big time. Inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Rube Goldberg, here is their video for This Too Shall Pass, which has garnered around 10 million hits on YouTube in less than four weeks. The band hired Syyn Labs to design and build the set.
I suspect that OK Go got the idea for their new video from this Honda commercial, which set a new standard for ingenuity and fun!
My first exposure to Rube Goldberg was Mouse Trap, a board game my sister and I loved playing. Setting things in motion and watching the sequence unfold was endlessly entertaining!
As a bonus, here is how a group of creative thinkers devised a way to open the drapes in the morning. Think of it as Mouse Trap on steroids!
Thanks, Rube, for all the hours of enjoyment! You’re a genius!

The Ok Go, video was great–I used it myself a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the Honda video. I had not seen that one.

each of us is an active agent in the multidimensional and interconnected Rube Goldberg machines in this complex ecosystem called Life. Each of our actions, however seemingly insignificant, has far-reaching effects on others, directly or indirectly. Oftentimes, the effects of some events are not immediately apparent to us, and this is because the Designer of this Machine works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform.

Hadn’t thought of God as the ultimate Rube Goldberg, ArrVee, but I like it! I like it very much!
