Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who would go on to write and direct Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, created this fake commercial in 1998 for a series of educational shorts about action figures based on historical figures. While they acknowledge that “its educational value was somewhat suspect,” I was greatly impressed with the quality of the production values as well as Lord’s and Miller’s creativity. Alas, the Bronte Sisters Power Dolls ad was never aired. But fortunately, thanks to blogs, that’s a situation that is easily remedied!
Go Charlotte! Go Emily! Go Anne! Jane Eyre and Heathcliff never kicked butt like this!
