The more grounded and peaceful you become, the easier it will be to distinguish your intuition from your ego.
Spiritual truth, then, is universally true and without variation through time or place. It always brings peace, harmony, accord, love, compassion, and mercy. Truth can be identified by these qualities. All else is the invention of the ego.
Dr. David R. Hawkins
Let your guard down and your ego will jump into action, drowning out the voice of divinely guided intuition with storms of relentless mental chatter and emotional upheaval.
There are always two voices sounding in our ears—the voice of fear and the voice of confidence. One is the clamor of the senses, the other is the whispering of the higher self.
Charles B. Newcomb
It is your ego that is responsible for the admonishments still rattling around in your head from your family, your sixth-grade teacher, your mean-spirited boss, and all the other well-intentioned or horribly misguided authority figures from your past or present.
If you hear a voice within you saying, “You are not a painter,” then by all means paint, boy, and that voice will be silenced.
Vincent van Gogh
Ego encourages you to act selfishly or from a position of superiority or inferiority, typically expressing itself as fear, judgment, opinion, or personal preference.
Fear is static that prevents me from hearing my intuition.
If the message you are hearing encourages you to attack anything or anyone, it is your ego speaking.
The ego always seeks to divide and separate. The Holy Spirit always seeks to unify and heal.
A Course in Miracles
Intuitive guidance, by definition, nudges you toward what is good, what is right, what is helpful. Divinely inspired intuition urges you, without exception, to act with love and compassion, to be of service to humankind.
Whenever conscience speaks with a divided, uncertain, and disputed voice, it is not the voice of God. Descend still deeper into yourself, until you hear nothing but a clear, undivided voice, a voice which does away with doubt and brings with it persuasion, light, and serenity.
