Roasted in the Divine Fires of Wisdom

Karmic law is in force in every moment of our lives. Karma cannot be sidestepped but it can be transcended through earnest, unwavering spiritual practice. Devotees who have achieved self-realization may have many or all of their karmic debts mitigated or forgiven.

Seeds of past karma cannot germinate if they are roasted in the divine fires of wisdom.
Paramahansa Yogananda

God-illumined souls break free from the revolving wheel of reincarnation and melt in loving union with divine consciousness. Whether it takes ten lives or ten thousand, you cannot fail to achieve your ultimate destiny.

But they for whom I am the goal supreme,
who do all work renouncing self for me
and meditate on me with single-hearted devotion,
these will I swiftly rescue from the fragment’s cycle of birth and death to fullness of eternal life in me.
Bhagavad Gita 12:6-7

Trust in the divine wisdom of reincarnation and the fear of death loses its sting. Knowing that we will wake up as if from a dream and reunite with our loved ones adds joy and vibrancy to the rest of our days.

Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because dawn has come.
Rabindranath Tagore

    Thank you, Phil.
This is encouraging news for those who feel forever stuck on the karmic wheel and a helpful reminder for those who have discovered, after being burned many times, how to transmute karma.
Your title, “Roasted in the Divine Fires of Wisdom” offers us a vivid metaphor for the process in a way that can be readily understood. Wisdom follows: We can change it quickly or we can take many lifetimes.
The Buddha learned this wisdom. I believe he stated it very succinctly when asked, “Are you a god”…”No…”Are you a man?”…”No”…”Then who are you?”…
    “I am awake”.
He had overcome. And so can we.

  2. Phil Bolsta Says:

Well said, Jim. Yes, I like the title of this post too. I took it directly from Yogananda’s quote, which I’ve always loved.
