Flow With the Least Sound

When you dedicate yourself to living for God, you vigorously guard the integrity of your virtue and the virtue of your integrity. Relaxing your ethics, even for trivial matters, is unthinkable.

Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself. Never pity yourself. Be a hard master to yourself—and be lenient to everybody else.
Henry Ward Beecher

You do not flaunt your integrity. By definition, integrity is never self-serving or self-aggrandizing.

The deepest rivers flow with the least sound.
Quintus Curtius Rufus

You simply live as you know you should, as you know you must, even if the rest of the world seems to be crumbling around you.

Content thyself to be obscurely good. When vice prevails, and impious men bear sway, the post of honor is a private station.
Joseph Addison

The prevailing winds of public opinion do not even ruffle your hair, much less blow you off course.

In matters of conscience, the law of the majority has no place.
Mahatma Gandhi

  1. Vickie Bartman Says:

Wow, Phil, this is GOOD! Profound, even. Difficult for many, capable by only those who work to keep their ego in check and are secure with ‘themselves’, and have learned to ‘bend like the willow’ when dealing with other’s egos.

  2. Phil Bolsta Says:

Bending like the willow is a nice analogy, Vickie. The willow isn’t concerned with appearing strong to others, it’s secure enough in its own nature that its bending keeps it strong and healthy.

  3. Serena Says:

This is a tough, but possible, goal.

  4. Phil Bolsta Says:

Most worthwhile goals are just that, Serena, tough but possible. The toughness helps us appreciate the sweetness all the more!
