Day one in Encinitas, California. I have lived in Minnesota my entire life and have never missed a Minnesota winter. Check that one off the list.
My plan was to return to Minnesota in five months. Yeah, that might not happen. I think I’ve discovered paradise!
I just got back from walking around downtown Encinitas in the warm sunshine and loving every minute of it. It’s so wonderful to be here that I can’t take it all in at once. There’s just so much to be grateful for.
I am happy. I am peaceful.
I am home.

Thank you, Serena! Let me know when you’d like to come here for lunch or dinner at the Lotus Cafe in Encinitas!

Aloha Phil
Congrats on the move to a warmer climate. I’ve experienced that awe of realization that you’re actually a resident, not just a visitor. It’s a fun adventure—Enjoy!

Thank you, Renee!

Phil, I’m only jealous of your Ocean View! I love the ocean, and have mostly experienced the Atlantic. Enjoy your new home! California has long been one of my favorite places.
November 30, 2010 at 6:56 PM
Thank you, Harriet! Yes, any ocean is as good as the next!
November 30, 2010 at 7:02 PM
I’m happy for you Phil. Congrats! Of course, Encinitas is the place people go to wake up from the dream.
November 30, 2010 at 7:12 PM
Agreed, John. I’m waking up to an even better dream!
November 30, 2010 at 7:39 PM
All the best to you Phil! May you enjoy the California sunshine! One thing I liked about living in California, you’re only a short drive from the sea, the desert or the mountains, truly a Paradise.
PS Charice lives in LA!
November 30, 2010 at 8:57 PM
WIth Charice here, it’s even more of a paradise, isn’t it, hoz?

Phil,
Sounds like you’re off to a great start in CA! There’s just something about having an ocean nearby. This may sound strange, but for some reason I feel very comfortable in the Pacific time zone. During my visits to LA and Seattle I’ve felt calm, relaxed and refreshed. Maybe it has to do with the nearby ocean. Or the fact that I was on vacation. :-)
November 30, 2010 at 9:48 PM
Could be the vacation part, Pat! You’re right about the ocean having a comforting effect. I still have to pinch myself that I can just walk around the corner and there it is!

So excited to hear you’re arrived and thrilled about your high spirits!
December 1, 2010 at 3:22 AM
Thank you, Rachel! It’s nice to be high the natural way!

What a blessing! Savor the beauty of the ocean and Master’s wonderful energy….wonderful news! I look forward to reading your posts from ‘home.’

I will do just that, Barbara! Thank you!

Hi Phil.
Congratulations on your move, whether it be temporary or permanent. Just don’t want you waking up one day missing shoveling 3 or 4 feet of snow, putting on 4 layers of clothes, Bret Favre and the Vikings, and screaming I want to go home. Just want to make sure you’re happy. You know, you may be spending a lot of money on sun block, so there is a down side. Ha, ha.
Be well, be happy, Phil. All the best.
December 1, 2010 at 7:15 AM
Thanks, Jim! I will gladly invest in sun block over mittens and shovels!
December 1, 2010 at 7:19 AM
Good morning, Phil! What a fabulous way to start my day – watching your video and seeing the sun, ocean and practically feeling the happiness exuding from you! Enjoy!
December 1, 2010 at 7:21 AM
It is my pleasure sharing my pleasure, Gail!

WOW! Didn’t know you were moving—especially there! I know it well….My ex in laws lived there and when we lived in Calif ( for 20 yrs) we went to Encinitas to visit them ….I always went to Yogananda’s retreat there. I miss sitting on the bench at the top of hill, looking down at the ocean. If u haven’t found that special spot yet, you will, and it’ll be more heaven for you! Think of me here —frozen and send some LIGHT please :)
I am hating the winter once again …..can’t seem to create winters in Sedonna yet but am working on it. Love it here the other seasons.
Anyway, CONGRATS on creating what you need for peace and blessings in your life! Add me to your blog list so we can stay in touch.
Enjoy the coast and it’s glory! XXXC

Nice to hear from you, Carol! Oh yes, I will be at the Meditation Gardens almost every day gazing at the ocean. Heaven on earth!

Welcome to the best State to live Phil! Moving here is a very wise decision. Hope you’ll continue to enjoy your new found “paradise”. The state of California or the city of Encinitas should reward you for this wonderful promotional video :).
December 1, 2010 at 2:01 PM
Ha! Thanks for the warm welcome, Charlene!

You bragger, LOL
Send some of that wonderful weather to Wisconsin. I’m so glad that you made the move however and you’re settling in. A change of scenery is always fun and hopefully some great things will be stirred inside of you. I look forward to seeing what that may be.
Big Hug

Good for you Phil! Very glad to hear you’ve found a new sense of home. Does Encinitas have its own Ecopolitan? :)
-Eric from Minneapolis
December 2, 2010 at 9:40 AM
No Ecopolitan, but this is the next best thing, Eric: http://www.greeneryrawcafe.com/
There’s also a nice vegan cafe:

Nice!

Congratulations Phil, I hope to follow in your footsteps next year. I’ve just moved to our new home in London and like you, I don’t need another English/Irish winter, so am hoping to get some sunny winters into my life. You certainly make Encinitas look inviting.
I wish you every good thing for your time there.
Sonas,
Orna

December 3, 2010 at 7:25 PM
I hope we get to visit Encinitas. Last summer we visited the Self Realization Center in LA after spending time with our own teacher (in Yogoanada’s line) in Santa Barbara.
December 3, 2010 at 7:26 PM
A word of caution, athursdayschild: Once you set foot in Encinitas, you won’t want to leave.
December 12, 2010 at 12:25 PM
Congrats to you Phil, for the bold move to the warmer climate!! California is paradise for weather, that’s for sure. And I applaud you for having the courage to uproot and go on a completely new adventure!
Blessings to you,
Todd
