Jillian Jensen
Jillian Jensen’s X Factor audition on September 12, 2012, was noteworthy not just because she sang so authentically with such raw emotion, not just because judge Demi Lovato got up out of her seat and embraced the sobbing twenty-year-old after her song, and not just because most of the audience was crying along with Jillian.
What was most stunning of all was that judge Simon Cowell actually got a bit weepy himself. When it came his turn to critique the performance, he casually reached for another morsel to snack on before he spoke—not because he was hungry but because he needed to compose himself. At the end of the video, he acknowledges that he teared up. “Only time in my life; I lost it,” he said. Demi congratulated Simon, telling him, “Oh, you have a heart!”
Here’s a little background on Jillian, courtesy of the entertainment website, WetPaint.com:
X Factor contestant Jillian Jensen moved Demi Lovato out of her seat with her rendition of Who You Are—but what was this pint-sized brunette doing before she graced the X Factor stage?
20-year-old Jillian has a love of music that goes back to age two, when she picked up her first instrument—and by the age of 8, she began composing her own music!
She’s since taught herself seven different instruments—guitar, piano, saxaphone, violin, drums, bass and Ukulele—basically making her a musical genius to which we will happily bow down. You can find countless videos on Jillian’s Youtube page of her performing covers (Her Adele is FIERCE!) and original songs, too. In fact, Jillian has released two records of original material and composed over 100 original songs. We know—girlfriend is prolific!
Based out of Rochester, Mass., Jillian also has a bit of a wild side, sporting six tattoos that all have to do with music! Because she’s a total cutie with a big personality, she also won First Place in the Talent portion of the 2007 Miss Teen America Pageant. But don’t let her pageant days fool you—the touching bullying story Jillian shared with Demi was no bull. In fact, Jillian is currently working on an Fall 2012 Anti-Bullying Campaign/Musical School Tour.
