Marty Brown Rekindles His Dream

I didn’t expect to be so moved by Marty Brown’s performance of Bob Dylan’s To Make You Feel My Love on America’s Got Talent on June 4, 2013. He has a good voice, but what brought me to tears was his authenticity and the depth of his love for and devotion to his wife, Shellie. I love seeing good, solid, loving relationships in which both people are completely devoted to each other.

At the start of the video, Marty says, “Everybody’s gotta have a dream.” Who can’t relate to that? Here he is, a forty-seven-year-old guy living in obscurity in Kentucky, who steps out on a national stage and makes his dream come true. Yes, he’s had success before but that must seem like a lifetime ago by now. Even if this night is the best it ever gets for him, that’s more than enough. For a few golden moments, he got to live his dream and declare his undying love for his wife to the whole world. May we all get to experience such beautiful moments!
