Preston and Liz’s Secretly Spectacular Wedding

Preston and Liz Palmer (photo by Jim Zurales)

Toss in a Hawaii beach, a scene from Braveheart, and the shortest engagement in history, and you have the secretly spectacular and spectacularly secret wedding of Preston and Liz Palmer. Watch the magic unfold for yourself in this fun four-minute video they put together a year after the fact.

Preston and Liz kept their April 19, 2012 wedding a secret from their families for more than a year before they finally spilled the beans at a big engagement/wedding party on May 19, 2013. What a fun and inventive way to start married life together!

I’ll yield the floor to Liz to explain how they spilled the beans and then surprised everyone again after the big surprise!

Preston and Liz mess with everyone a little bit!

We invited everyone to an “Engagement Party,” and that’s what it said on a big sign at the front of the room written on a big sketch pad, but once we did the big reveal with the video, we flipped our sign to say “Wedding Reception,” and later “Anniversary Party” since it took place on our one-year-plus-one-month anniversary. We even tricked them and flipped it one more time to say “Baby Shower.” There was a huge unanimous shout of excitement from the audience, and then when we flipped it again to the words, “Just Kidding!” and everyone moaned, and then laughed and clapped. It was perfect :)

I am honored to call Preston and Liz my friends. In fact, I was the one who first introduced them to each other!

A toast to the semi-newlyweds: May the rest of your days be filled with an abundance of love, laughter and berry parfaits!

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents on Amazon.

Order it at GodIsLogical.com.

In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?

Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.
