When someone is in need of healing, whether I know them well or not at all, I visualize them while saying the following prayer.
I send you love and light, my friend, from my heart to yours—to love you, to protect you, to guide you, to heal you, to cherish you, to comfort you. God bless you, my friend. You are beautiful and you are loved.
Know that the loving energy you transmit may ease the recipient’s pain, comfort their soul, and bolster their strength and resolve.
The beauty of this prayer is that it also is perfect for resolving hurt, anger and resentment. After all, you cannot release a hurt until you send it love. By directing this prayer to the person you feel ill will toward, you break the hold that person has over you by bathing them in love and asking that the conflict be resolved for your higher good as well as theirs.
Whether or not you witness any change in your relationship, it has been forever altered. Not only did you release the resentment you felt toward them, but the loving energy you broadcast through the unified field (the complex web of divine energy that connects every atom in creation to every other atom beyond space and time) reaches them, changes them, makes them better.
If sending love to someone who betrayed you or harmed you seems inconceivable, step aside and ask God to use you as a conduit. By allowing God’s divine energy to flow through you and into that person’s heart, you are surrendering to a higher form of justice. You do not have to like the other person, you simply have to acknowledge that God loves him the way all of God’s children are loved.
You will know that forgiveness has begun when you recall
those who hurt you and feel the power to wish them well.

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents.
Order it at GodIsLogical.com.
In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• How do you reconcile the “free will vs. Divine Will” conundrum?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?
Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.
Phil is also the author of Sixty Seconds: One Moment Changes Everything, a collection of 45 inspiring, life-changing stories from prominent authors and thought leaders he interviewed. The roster of storytellers includes Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, Caroline Myss, Larry Dossey, Rachel Naomi Remen, Bernie Siegel, Dean Ornish, and Christiane Northrup. Sixty Seconds has been translated into four languages: Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. Reading this book is like spending a few minutes face to face with each of the contributors and listening to their personal stories.
