When A Man Loves A Diva

Dane Stauffer, who now lives in Los Angeles, has been a fixture on the Minneapolis theater scene for nearly four decades. I invited Dane to visit today so he could tell us about his new show—When A Man Loves A Divaat the Lab Theater at 700 North First Street in the Minneapolis warehouse district.

When A Man Loves A Diva is a high-energy wonderful show with great songs, great humor and great performances. I cannot emphasize enough how much fun you’ll have at this show. If I didn’t know about it, I’d want somebody to tell me about it because I would not want to miss this show!

The show runs on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 7 PM through August 16.

David and I went last night with 2 friends. Ordered the tix online, so it was $12.50 apiece. We got double our money’s worth in the first 5 minutes!

Amazing. Funny. Heart breaking. Uplifting. Astonishing. We can’t thank you enough.

Still smiling (and bouncing “I Put A Spell On You” around inside my head),

Thank you so much Phil for the recommendation for “When A Man Loves a Diva.” Loved it!

Here’s my write-up of the show that appeared in City Pages‘ A List:

You’ll laugh, you’ll cheer, you’ll scratch your head at improper pronoun usage. Originally mounted this spring and now back by popular demand, this show of classic ballads and power anthems from the likes of Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, and Barbara Streisand is sung with style and substance by three skilled performers. Dane Stauffer is at his playful best, Nathan Shrake replaces Ben Bakken from the original cast, and Julius C. Collins III, best known as the lead singer for Greazy Meal and Dr. Mambo’s Combo, booms with the best of them. Highlights include Stauffer’s kitschy audience banter, Shrake’s heartfelt rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me and Collins’ soulful stylings on Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You. Musical director Sanford Moore, founder of Moore By Four, accompanies on piano.

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents.

Order it at GodIsLogical.com.

In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• How do you reconcile the “free will vs. Divine Will” conundrum?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?

Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.

sixty-seconds-coverPhil is also the author of Sixty Seconds: One Moment Changes Everything, a collection of 45 inspiring, life-changing stories from prominent authors and thought leaders he interviewed. The roster of storytellers includes Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, Caroline Myss, Larry Dossey, Rachel Naomi Remen, Bernie Siegel, Dean Ornish, and Christiane Northrup. Sixty Seconds has been translated into four languages: Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. Reading this book is like spending a few minutes face to face with each of the contributors and listening to their personal stories.
