A Hopeless End or Endless Hope?

Every event has a purpose; sometimes you get to see the reason, sometimes you don’t. Unplug from the need to know why something happened and trust that behind the event is a message of divine love and empowerment.

The universe is like a safe to which there is a combination—but the combination is locked up in the safe.
Peter DeVries

Train yourself to look beyond the illusory “negative” aspects of events to discover the divinely directed lessons embedded within.

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
Confucius

The beauty of reframing even the most challenging of moments as a gift is that, even if the “divine purpose” you come up with is wildly off the mark, the act of searching for meaning and purpose raises your consciousness, which ultimately leads you to live your life with more meaning and purpose.

It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.
Henry David Thoreau

Granted, such an exercise is unthinkable in the wake of tragic events. At such times, we must go deeper into our faith and turn to our loved ones in the hope of finding some measure of comfort and meaning.

Don’t think that the person who is trying to comfort you now lives untroubled among the simple and quiet words that sometimes give you pleasure. His life has much trouble and sadness, and remains far behind yours. If it were otherwise, he would never have been able to find those words.
Rainer Maria Rilke

In this way, even if only a sliver of light penetrates our darkest moments, there is light nonetheless; and where there is light, there is the gift of hope.

Two men look out through the same bars;
One sees the mud, and one the stars.

Frederick Langbridge

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents.

Order it at GodIsLogical.com.

In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• How do you reconcile the “free will vs. Divine Will” conundrum?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?

Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.

sixty-seconds-coverPhil is also the author of Sixty Seconds: One Moment Changes Everything, a collection of 45 inspiring, life-changing stories from prominent authors and thought leaders he interviewed. The roster of storytellers includes Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, Caroline Myss, Larry Dossey, Rachel Naomi Remen, Bernie Siegel, Dean Ornish, and Christiane Northrup. Sixty Seconds has been translated into four languages: Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. Reading this book is like spending a few minutes face to face with each of the contributors and listening to their personal stories.

  1. ArrVee Says:

one way to look at it is how you would frame it to a child for whose still fragile spirit you care about, and for whom you wish the best in this life. We are often strong for others, more than for ourselves.

  2. Phil Bolsta Says:

AIn’t it the truth, ArrVee. So many people take care of everyone else’s needs and health but neglect their own. That’s not serving others in a healthy way.
