I’m excited! After a premature announcement and official denial a few weeks go, it’s now official: Charice is joining the cast of Glee next season! She’ll play a foreign exchange student who will serve as a rival to Lea Michele‘s character, Rachel.
As Charice tweeted yesterday:
It’s official. I’m on Glee (next season) but story behind it. When rumor came out, it wasn’t true. But then after that, I tried to audition. And i made it!!! Let’s Party!!!
When I found out the news late last night, I tweeted directly to Charice:
I’m so happy for you, Charice! Being on Glee will awaken millions to your talent. Hope you’re ready for takeoff!
I am indeed very happy for Charice because her performances on Glee will expose her to millions of new fans. I can’t imagine a better way to get the word out!
By the way, how’s this for cool: The tweet that I fired off at 3 AM was featured hours later on Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN), a Philippine entertainment news show hosted by Boy Abunda, the country’s King of Talk:
Here’s the two-minute video of the SNN segment (my tweet is at 1:19). The following translation is provided by Charice fan aims_me2x:
Boy Abunda: Friends, here’s another one. She is just unstoppable. The youngest international superstar Charice is the first choice for a role in the hit musical, Glee. It all started with rumors, but now it has been confirmed!
Voiceover: It has been confirmed that Charice will be part of the cast of the famous U.S. television series, Glee. Charice’s rise to fame is certainly unstoppable. From the ascent of her single, Pyramid in the Billboard Charts to her guestings in different foreign shows like the American talk show Regis & Kelly, Charice will soon join another famous show in American television.
A few weeks ago, it was first announced that Charice will be part of the U.S. television series, Glee. According to Charice, it wasn’t true at that time. But just today, Charice confirmed the news in her Twitter account. We quote, “It’s official. I’m on Glee.” Charice added that after the rumor first spread that she was part of the cast of Glee, Charice auditioned. Charice then shared the good news; quote, “I tried to audition. And I made it!!! Let’s Party!!!”
According to reports on websites, Charice will play a foreign exchange student that will serve as a rival to one of the leading characters on Glee named Rachel.
After Charice’s confirmation, the news immediately spread and Charice even made it as the fifth worldwide trending topic in Twitter. Even other celebrities, like Filipino pride Leah Salonga, were proud of this wonderful opportunity for Charice. Charice thanked everyone that was happy for her recent achievement; quote, “Thank you all for the beautiful messages. I love you all.”
Charice is set to return to the Philippines in the coming days, just in time to sing the National Anthem for President-elect Noynoy Aquino’s Inauguration on June 30.
Boy Abunda: I am so proud. She’s my goddaughter; she’s also Oprah’s goddaugher; Ricky Lo and Kris’s goddaugher. We are her godparents.
You know, there was an initial denial about this issue in Glee. I suspect that they were afraid . . . No, not really afraid. But I think the American management of Charice was afraid that the news here in the Philippines may have preempted and/or spoiled whatever negotiations was happening. The good news now is that it’s confirmed. Congratulations, Charice!
Congratulations, Charice! You are indeed an unstoppable force!

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents.
Order it at GodIsLogical.com.
In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• How do you reconcile the “free will vs. Divine Will” conundrum?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?
Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.
Phil is also the author of Sixty Seconds: One Moment Changes Everything, a collection of 45 inspiring, life-changing stories from prominent authors and thought leaders he interviewed. The roster of storytellers includes Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, Caroline Myss, Larry Dossey, Rachel Naomi Remen, Bernie Siegel, Dean Ornish, and Christiane Northrup. Sixty Seconds has been translated into four languages: Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. Reading this book is like spending a few minutes face to face with each of the contributors and listening to their personal stories.
