The Troubling of a Star

June 14, 2010

If God is guiding each of us with infinite wisdom and inexhaustible love, it follows that God is an organizing force bringing divine order to the universe, and that you are loved and supported no matter how you choose to exercise your free will.

There is a force of love present everywhere, and it can be trusted to bring your own life into order and peace.
Deepak Chopra

The universe, as self-empowerment author Wayne Dyer so poetically noted, is (more…)

The Corner That Lies Around the Corner

June 13, 2010

The magnitude and magnificence of divine guidance is too vast for us to grasp. No matter; life does not depend on human understanding for it to unfold in wisdom.

When we look ahead, we see only chaos. When we look behind, we see only order.
Caroline Myss

You cannot see around the corner that lies around the corner that (more…)

Your Soul Is Being Blown By Great Winds Across the Sky

June 12, 2010

Your angelic emissaries are with you always, guiding you with infinite wisdom and deep love. The implications of this realization are staggering. If God is guiding you with infinite intelligence and inexhaustible love, that means that nothing is random or accidental.

Hold on to that thought the next time your grocery bag breaks in the parking lot, or you trip on the sidewalk and sprain your ankle, or your tire blows out a few blocks from home.

Now and then I go about pitying myself and all the while my soul is being blown by great winds across the sky.

You are not having an unlucky day. You are (more…)

What Is Good, What Is Right, What Is Helpful

June 11, 2010

The more grounded and peaceful you become, the easier it will be to distinguish your intuition from your ego.

Spiritual truth, then, is universally true and without variation through time or place. It always brings peace, harmony, accord, love, compassion, and mercy. Truth can be identified by these qualities. All else is the invention of the ego.
Dr. David R. Hawkins

Leaving the City of Your Comfort

June 10, 2010

The purity of your conscience is compromised to the extent that it is influenced by your ego. A pure conscience asks, What is the right thing to do? A conscience ruled by ego asks, Will doing the right thing prevent me from getting what I want?

You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. . . . What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover (more…)

Build Your Wings on the Way Down

June 9, 2010

The more you trust in your ability to tune in to your intuitive wisdom, the easier it will be to access it. Relying on logic alone to guide your actions will take you only so far.

If we listened to our intellect, we’d never have a love affair. We’d never have a friendship. We’d never go into business, because we’d be cynical. Well, that’s nonsense. You’ve got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.
Ray Bradbury

Your intellectual decisions are biased by the (more…)

Their Truth May Not Be Your Truth

June 8, 2010

Your conscience is the bridge between the infinite wisdom of Spirit and your body-bound ego. Block out your conscience, and you disable your moral compass.

The person that loses their conscience has nothing left worth keeping.
Izaak Walton

Stifle your conscience and you risk falling prey to someone who, consciously or not, may (more…)

Always Aware, Always Listening

June 7, 2010

Ignoring your intuition and forging stubbornly ahead on your own is inevitably self-defeating.

God without you won’t; you without God can’t.
Desmond Tutu

Farewell to the Tranquil Mind

June 6, 2010

When you act in accordance with your inner guidance, your energy vibrates at a higher, finer rate and you come into greater alignment with the Source of all that is. The greater your harmony with this universal life force, the closer you approach the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Let the water settle; you will see the moon and stars mirrored in your being.
Rumi

Conversely, the more you tune out your inner guidance, the further you (more…)

The Whisper Which Is Heard By You Alone

June 5, 2010

Intuition is the wellspring of creative inspiration. Every artistic achievement originated with the same creative impulse that produced all of existence.

To the artist is sometimes granted a sudden, transient insight which serves in this matter for experience. A flash, and where previously the brain held a dead fact, the soul grasps a living truth! At moments we are all artists.
Arnold Bennett

Encourage this creative impulse to take root inside you, allow it to (more…)

Don’t Mess With the Bronte Sisters!

June 4, 2010

Phil Lord and Chris Miller,  who would go on to write and direct Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, created this fake commercial in 1998 for a series of educational shorts about action figures based on historical figures. While they acknowledge that “its educational value was somewhat suspect,” I was greatly impressed with the quality of the production values as well as Lord’s and Miller’s creativity. Alas, the (more…)

Juggling Is Bliss

June 3, 2010

I had the pleasure of seeing two friends perform at Acme Comedy Company tonight. Minneapolis native Josh Weinstein and his buddy Chris Bliss teamed up for a special stand-up show as they’ve done a number of times in the past. Josh was the original Tom Servo in Mystery Science Theater 3000 and the head writer for Later With Greg Kinnear.

Both guys are very funny, but the highlight, as (more…)

Happy Birthday, Erin!

June 2, 2010

Erin on her fourth birthday at Chuck E. Cheese

June 2 is a magical day for me. On this day, thirty-one years ago, my daughter Erin popped out into the world. Whatever I am today, whatever I will be, is because she has graced my life with more love and beauty than I ever dreamed possible. Erin is the greatest gift I could ever give to the world, and it is I who have been showered with blessings in return.

One year ago today, I wrote a post about our tradition of writing an annual birthday letter. There are now (more…)

The Butterfly Has Time Enough

June 1, 2010

Diverting course on a moment’s notice to follow your guidance can take time, an often scarce commodity these days. Yet the more time you devote to pursuing what you feel guided to pursue, the more time you seem to have for everything else.

It is familiarity with life that makes time speed quickly. When every day is a step into the unknown, as for children, the days are long with the gathering of experience.
George Gissing

You may find yourself shifting from being chronically late to feeling like (more…)
