Travel far enough on your spiritual path, and you will reach a crossroads. You will have to choose between retreating to the safety and comfort of life as you knew it, or severing all ties with that existence and forging bravely ahead into the vast unknown.
One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.
This does not necessarily mean you must bid farewell to the life you have lived; but it does mean that you are genuinely willing to do so if that is what it takes to truly know God.
The important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.
Charles Du Bos
Granted, it is likely that you will outgrow some relationships. The good news is, you will meet new friends whom you will be able to relate to more deeply and more authentically.
When you affirm your own rightness in the universe, then you co-operate with others easily and automatically as part of your own nature. You, being yourself, helps others be themselves. Because you recognize your own uniqueness you will not need to dominate others, nor cringe before them.
The even better news is, you will never be alone because you will also be deepening your relationship with God.
God loves us the way we are, but too much to leave us that way.
