When I was a kid, I thought that people were good and kind and that anybody who treated others poorly was the exception, not the rule. I was naive.
Now that I’m grown up, I see that my glasses had a bit too much rose-colored tint to them. But I’m still naive and I like it that way. I still believe that people are essentially good and kind, and that they especially tend to act that way when others are in need of help.
Ultimately, it’s up to each of us to make the world a better, kinder place. That means you. Begin today, right now.
How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.
It matters not if the world turns a deaf ear to your kindness, or if all your efforts to express your inner divinity are met with brickbats or outright scorn. Do what’s right, do what’s kind and you will know the meaning of true peace.
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
. . . Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
. . . Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
. . . Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
. . . Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
. . . Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
. . . Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
. . . Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
. . . Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents on Amazon.
Order it at GodIsLogical.com.
In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?
Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.
