AUTUMN EQUINOX UPDATE
The Autumn Equinox arrives on Friday, September 23.
It is a law of physics that light becomes stronger when it bends, as it does at every Equinox and Solstice. Use the powerful changing angle between the earth and sun at the Autumn Equinox to project positive thoughts, prayers and affirmations. Meditation can be very helpful at this time of year as it stills your mind and enables you to use its concentrated power to your greatest benefit.
On a global scale, “change” is the watchword for the rest of 2011. The Mayan Calendar predicted that 2012 would herald not the end of time, but the end of time as we know it. That time is drawing to a close, as the Autumn Equinox is the last full season of the last year before 2012. Rapid technological advances are transforming our lives even as human-run institutions such as governments, corporations, financial institutions and even conventional media outlets are becoming increasingly ineffective, as if they are crumbling to pave the way for a more technologically driven world.
We are in a period of upward evolution, despite appearances to the contrary. Sometimes, a breakdown of old systems and structures, and a concomitant release of negative thoughts and patterns, is necessary to make space for new thoughts and patterns—and indeed, our very ways of being.
The advent of 2012 will offer you alternatives you hadn’t considered. You will see that you can not only live without the things you thought you couldn’t live without, you will live better—and thrive—with fewer “things” and encumbrances to weigh you down. It will be important not to hold onto expectations or old notions of how things “used to be” or are “supposed to be.” There is tremendous learning ahead.
You may already notice that changes are becoming more numerous and the pace at which they are occurring is accelerating. This pattern will reach critical mass in 2012, when the myriad of changes will create a ripple or domino effect that will bring a cascade of further change at an even quicker rate. Over time, you will adapt to the quickening and develop appropriate strategies and coping mechanisms.
You will become more innovative, creative and resourceful. Your innovations will improve your life. You will feel fearless as you face changes you have avoided in the past. Your sense of self-mastery, self-esteem and self-confidence will expand.
You will begin to feel more comfortable and familiar with change as 2012 draws to a close. You will feel less attached to the status quo. Over time, as unexpected events become the norm, you will actually learn to be happy as you “go with the flow.” Your mind will become more flexible and open. While it is normal to cling to that which is known and familiar, it isn’t necessarily in your highest good to continue in the same way. It is also a law of physics that the greatest order arises from the greatest chaos.
The changes that are occurring will bring you to a better place. You will feel more secure within yourself. You will have more to give to others. You will feel a greater connection to your spirituality. And most importantly, you will cultivate a deeper relationship to your own soul.

YOUR PERSONAL ASTROLOGICAL STRATEGIES
FOR THE AUTUMN SEASON
ARIES (March 21 – April 19)
You were born at the Spring Equinox when the light of day was growing in length and strength. You feel energized at your birthday and throughout the summer months. Now, six months after your birthday, at the Autumn Equinox, the light of day is on the wane, and you consequently feel a sense of peace in the depths of your soul. Give yourself plenty of time to relax and unwind. Enjoy the tranquility you experience. Listen to others. Contemplate the world from another person’s perspective. Consider the ramifications of your decisions for other people—and for yourself—before acting. You will feel motivated to attend to loved ones as the sun, Venus and Mercury travel through Libra during the fall season. Stop to smell the roses or watch the trees changing color. Watch the numinous quality of the changing light of the sun. Observe the mystical quality of Mother Nature as we move from the bright light of summer to the subdued tones of the winter season.
TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)
Your sense of well-being will transcend the ups and downs of daily life as the lucky planet Jupiter moves through Taurus until June 2012. Your daily activities will be enriched by a magical quality of spiritual protection. Strengthen the presence of the spiritual power available to you through prayer. Focus on the big picture and don’t let small problems bother you. Pursue your hopes and dreams. This is a time to manifest your vision for a better life for yourself and the people close to you. You will experience greater success in your worthwhile endeavors—be they material, spiritual, social or solitary. The full moon in Taurus on November 10 is a powerful time to manifest your ideals. Open yourself to receive spiritual blessings in the days leading up to this powerful full moon. Then take action early in the day on Thursday, November 10, if you want to build or expand an endeavor in the future. Take action later in the day on issues you would like to diminish in scope, or detach from them altogether.
GEMINI (May 21 – June 21)
The rapid speed of the orbit of your planetary ruler, Mercury, in relationship to the earth throughout the fall season will enable you to quickly and easily accomplish outstanding projects. You will have the energy to pursue interests you have put on the back burner. You also will have time to investigate a subject that requires deeper research. Consequently, you will find a solution to a conundrum you have been contemplating. The pace of new revelations will slow a bit during the retrograde of the communications planet, Mercury, from November 24 to December 14. During this three-week period, you will have a chance to re-assess your reality from an alternate perspective. The answer to an unanswered question will reveal itself at this time. With this new information, you will be ready to pursue a new direction that will be more beneficial for you. Pursue this path single-mindedly after December 14. A new moon Solar Eclipse on November 24 will bring a new person into your life. The full moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini on December 10 will give you a clear idea of how to proceed with the new relationship.
CANCER (June 22 – July 22)
More than any other astrological sign, your life is guided by the waxing and waning cycles of the moon. When the moon is dark, you feel introverted and melancholy. When the moon is bright and full, you feel extroverted, energized and enthusiastic. The full moon in Aries on October 11 will give you an extra dose of energy to spice up a stagnant area of your life. You will have an exciting choice to contemplate and you will be ready to make a final decision by the full moon on November 10. Think of the monthly rhythms of new and full moons as opening and closing chapters of your life. It is best for you to begin important endeavors at the waxing moon, when the light of the new moon is growing. And it is best for you to bring your projects to a stage of completion at the full moon two weeks later, when the light of the moon peaks and then begins to wane. The new moons of September 27, October 26, November 24 and December 24 are good times to initiate action. Then, bring your plans to fruition when you have greatest clarity at the full moons on October 11, November 10 and December 10. Also note that the new moon on November 24 coincides with a Solar Eclipse. This will bring you a new idea that will be important to you for six months. The full moon on December 10 coincides with a Lunar Eclipse that will help you bring a hidden talent to the surface. Consider talking with someone you trust to help you put your new insights and awareness into perspective.
LEO (July 23 – August 22)
As daylight diminishes beginning with the Autumn Equinox on September 23, you will feel a corresponding desire to pull into yourself and observe the world from a more detached perspective. While you tend to enthusiastically embrace life throughout the year given that your astrological sign is ruled by the sun, you feel a bit more naturally withdrawn during the lower light of autumn and winter. Tune into your natural rhythms and follow your intuition. October is an important month for your relationships. November is a good month to focus on your family and finances. December is a good time to express your creativity and take a trip if you have the opportunity. Mars in Leo from September 18 to November 10 will give you extra energy. If you feel as if you’re heading toward a confrontation under this celestial influence, take a deep breath, mentally step back and give yourself time to see the situation from another person’s perspective. The danger with powerful Mars in the fiery sign of Leo is that people will become overly attached to their own point of view. Try to diffuse tension by calling forward the magnanimous quality of your nature.
VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)
Virgos, beware! Energetic Mars, which usually spends two months in every astrological sign, traverses the hard-working Sign of the Virgin for an extraordinary eight months beginning in November, due to the backward and forward motion of the fiery planet. Mars will be in Virgo from November 10, 2011 until July 3, 2012! A concentration of Mars’ energy in one astrological sign can work for good or ill. On the positive side, Virgos will have increased energy and stamina with the support of energizing Mars in your sign. On a less positive note, too much Mars energy can make you feel grandiose or dogmatic, or cause you to run in too many directions at once without finishing anything that you’ve started. The antidote to the powerful planetary influences you will be under until next summer is a strong contemplative or meditative practice that will help you balance the electromagnetic energies that will naturally be coursing through your already-sensitive nervous system. Globally, the concentration of energy in the constellation of Virgo will mean that people will focus one-pointedly on realistic facts, figures and details rather than on unrealistic assessments. People also will have abundant energy for healing and self-correction. Correspondingly, the energy of Mars in Virgo will tax everyone’s nervous systems. At times, you will have to put the cosmic movie on “pause” so you can relax, renew and return to your calm center.
LIBRA (September 23 – October 23)
Saturn in Libra conjoins the Libra sun on October 13, making this an excellent time to solidify your plans or make commitments for the future. Libra is a relationship-oriented sign ruled by Venus, so it is important for you to honor, respect and commit to the people who are important to you. This is a good time to assess your relationships, readjust where changes are needed, re-balance if necessary and recommit to the future as appropriate. The secret to your relationship success is your ability to be fair, balanced, open-minded, peaceful and harmonious. If you feel that other people are either unable to reciprocate or unkind in any way, this is the time to take action in verbal or written form. It may be time to change the rules of the game. Venus in Libra until October 8 will make you magnetically attractive to others. Mercury in Libra until October 13 will help you get your point across in a diplomatic way. The earth under the influence of the constellation of Libra until October 23 will help you and many other people to feel positive, even-minded, impartial and fair.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 21)
If you have been feeling during the summer as if you were pushing a boulder up a hill only to meet with limited success, prepare to receive the rewards for your prior efforts just after your upcoming birthday in late October or November. Yours is a patient, persevering astrological sign. By steadily building toward your goal, you will achieve success. With the lucky planet Jupiter in your opposing sign of Taurus until June 11, 2012, you will receive valuable assistance to accomplish your goals from people who understand you. Make sure to explain your aims simply and clearly to attract the greatest amount of support. Address your message to supporters who are generous, upbeat and confident rather than seeking to relate to people who are weaker than yourself, in which case you will automatically take the lead position. Look for people who can establish equal partnerships with you. You will enjoy the challenge and learn from the repartee.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)
A Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius on November 24 will shine the spotlight on you. Prepare to observe—and be observed. Introspect so you will best understand yourself and your motivations and be able to best respond in a constructive way to the scrutiny you are under. It’s a good time to examine yourself and the life you have created to see what is no longer of value. Clean out closets and desk drawers as well as your memory banks. It is possible that you are doing something to please others that does not serve your highest interests. By the time the full moon Lunar Eclipse arrives on December 10, you will be clear about what is no longer serving your highest good, and you will clearly see the path to letting it go. This is a time to streamline your life so you will be able to move along with agility into the positive future that awaits you. Relationship prospects gain momentum by the middle of next year.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)
You are in a period of finishing what has been started during the last quarter of the year. You take joy and pleasure from initiating new endeavors. This is a time to reap the rewards of all of the hard work you have done in the past by bringing some of these projects to completion. Take an inventory of your outstanding commitments and focus upon simple steps that will bring these affairs to their proper conclusions. Such closure will be a positive manifestation of all of the effort you have expended. Venus in Capricorn in late November and December will bring love and accolades to you. In your natural humility, make sure not to deflect the praise you rightly deserve!
AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)
Energetic Mars in your opposing sign of Leo from September 18 to November 10 will bring a fair number of strong-willed people into your personal orbit during the fall season. Respond to any challenges to your sense of self by reminding yourself of the beautiful qualities you possess. You are a friendly, generous, egalitarian, open-minded and evenhanded soul who has many forward-thinking ideas to share. Sometimes other people are not quite ready to hear your progressive ideas. But when they are, they will learn a lot from your impartial perspective and your large-hearted way of interacting in the world. Simply keep on being yourself in the face of opposition. Neptune in Aquarius throughout the rest of 2011 will reward your spiritual efforts. You will benefit by practicing faith, prayer, affirmation and meditation.
PISCES (February 19 – March 20)
Energetic Mars in your opposing sign of Virgo from November 10, 2011 to July 2, 2012, combined with Neptune in Pisces beginning early next year, will attract a symphony of interactions and influences. Some people will share their opinions with you and genuinely solicit your advice, knowing how perceptive and intuitive you are. Other people will try to dominate you, knowing how sensitive and compassionate you are. You will have to walk the middle path throughout the year, between being the master and the servant. Listen carefully to what is being presented. Respond with intuition rather than emotion, and from your heart rather than your head. Others will follow your wise example.

• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?
Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.
