Melanie Amaro Goes Legend

MELANIE AMARO
AUDITION
LISTEN

Oh. My. God. Watching Melanie Amaro’s audition for The X Factor, I found myself physically trembling and on the verge of sobbing. Seriously. Not only is her voice that powerful, pure and true, she has a huge heart and a loving, supportive family, all of which adds up to an emotional wallop of a performance.

Perhaps my favorite part was watching Melanie’s little sister react to her performance and the judges’ reactions backstage. Her sister wasn’t the only one who couldn’t control her emotions. At the end of Melanie’s song, judge Nicole Scherzinger could barely talk through her tears.

Melanie's little sister was overwhelmed with pride and joy

The following uncut video of Melanie’s audition was posted on June 20, 2011, months before her performance aired on the show. It even more dramatically shows the impact she had on the audience and judges.

CONGRATULATIONS TO X FACTOR 2011 WINNER MELANIE AMARO!

Melanie was crowned the winner on December 22, 2011. Following the finale video are all of Melanie’s performances on the show. It will be fun watching Melanie’s career progress from here on out.

MELANIE AMARO
JUDGES’ HOUSE PERFORMANCE
WILL YOU BE THERE

After Melanie’s judges’ house performance, Simon Cowell inexplicably cut her and sent her home. At the end of the episode, he realized his “mistake” and flew to Melanie’s home in Florida to apologize and invite her back into the competition. Two words: Really, Simon? His strategy, while certainly innovative and dramatic, was transparent. By sending Melanie packing, he managed to turn an obvious front-runner into an underdog while simultaneously making Melanie hungrier, stronger for having gone through adversity, and far less likely to take her opportunity for granted. Simon’s master plan worked, but was it really necessary? We’ll never know.

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents.

Order it at GodIsLogical.com.

In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• How do you reconcile the “free will vs. Divine Will” conundrum?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?

Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.

sixty-seconds-coverPhil is also the author of Sixty Seconds: One Moment Changes Everything, a collection of 45 inspiring, life-changing stories from prominent authors and thought leaders he interviewed. The roster of storytellers includes Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, Caroline Myss, Larry Dossey, Rachel Naomi Remen, Bernie Siegel, Dean Ornish, and Christiane Northrup. 1. Lori Anne Says:

I’m a puddle. Every single time I watch this. Love.

  2. Phil Bolsta Says:

We can splash in the puddle together, Lori.

  3. Kathleen Says:

True talent. True. Fully developed, full blown. Breathtaking.

  4. Phil Bolsta Says:

Breathtaking is a good word for it, Kathleen. I’m glad you liked it!

  5. Caroline Says:

Watch her audition every day. People like her inspire me too

  6. Phil Bolsta Says:

Yes, I’ve watched it many a time as well, Caroline!

  7. Nicke Says:

Here’s something rather interesting that I found on Melanie’s Wiki page. It appears that Melanie was rejected by X Factor not once (i.e. Judge’s House) but TWICE.

QUOTE: “She previously tried auditioning at her local Fox affiliate for a “fast pass”, but was not well received by producers there and subsequently auditioned with the general public at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida.” (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanie_Amaro)

I imagine her story on the show will inspire other talented hopefuls who have faced rejection to not give up… and that perhaps Melanie’s roller-coaster ride to stardom is all the sweeter for it.

  8. Phil Bolsta Says:

Very interesting, Nicke. Reminds me of Jordin Sparks. I heard she was rejected by American Idol five times and continued flying to auditions all over the country until she was accepted at the sixth one. yes, the harder you have to work for something, and the more obstacles in your way, the sweeter the taste of victory.

  9. Nicke Says:

The raw footage really shows how well received she was by the audience as well as the judges. I love footage like this because it hasn’t been manipulated. Obviously there are two versions of the family congratulating her, this one on-stage and the second one back-stage. After watching this, I cannot begin to imagine how confused Melanie and her family were when she was “cut” from the show at the Judge’s House for her category. All’s well that ends well, though, and she’s a well-deserved winner.

  10. Phil Bolsta Says:

Yes, Nicke. I can only imagine Melanie’s confusion and distress after Simon cut her. He had a plan for her all along, but that plan involved playing with her emotions, which is always a fine line to walk.

  11. Nicke Says:

Here’s confirmation that it even crossed Melanie’s mind that Simon had staged her elimination just so he could create a special focus on her… but I don’t think it bothers her one bit, certainly not now!!

  12. Phil Bolsta Says:

Thanks, Nicke! I was wondering about that so I’m very glad you sent this!

  13. Nicke Says:

This is an amazing treat … Melanie and Marcus Canty doing a duet while they are having their hair “fixed”, Unrehearsed and off the cuff, it somehow sounds better than the slick, rehearsed and choreographed performances they did on stage. This shows them to be not just singers with good voices but true artists in their field.

  14. Phil Bolsta Says:

Thanks for the treat, Nicke! It’s great to get a peek behind the scenes and see nothing but harmony and goodwill!
