Love Is Always Open Arms

"Sleeping Couple" by Ivan Koulakov (ivan-art.com)

Spiritual partners place no restrictions upon each other. They grant each other complete freedom to do whatever they like with whomever they choose.

Him that I love, I wish to be free—even from me.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh

First, however, they thoroughly discuss the compatibility of their values and desires and clearly specify the boundaries of what they cannot live with.

Love is always open arms. With arms open you allow love to come and go as it wills, freely, for it’ll do so anyway. If you close your arms about love you’ll find you are left holding only yourself.
Leo Buscaglia

By agreeing to these terms, they are telling each other that they never wish to impose their will upon the other.

Where love rules, there is no will to power; and where power predominates, there love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other.
Carl Jung

They trust that each of them values the relationship enough to forgo acting on any desire that would jeopardize it. Thus, they vow to never do or say anything that they would not do or say in front of the other.

Love at first sight is easy to understand; it’s when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle.
Amy Bloom

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents on Amazon.

Order it at GodIsLogical.com.

In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?

Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.

  1. Billie Says:

I think it should be harder to get married. Make it as expensive to get married as it is to get divorced.

Make people take a test before they move in with each other to show them how little they know about one another.

Too many couples walk around together with empty eyes.

  2. Phil Bolsta Says:

Actually, Billie, a whole lot of people spend a whole lot of money to get married! But I hear you, and agree that marriage is not viewed by as many people nowadays as the sacred union it is.
