Charice Honors Whitney Houston

Charice‘s tribute to Whitney Houston (which occurred before Houston’s passing on February 11, 2012), is Exhibit A of why the soon-to-be twenty-year-old Filipina singer is destined for superstardom. The raw power and emotion that characterize all of Charice’s performances are fully on display. Much of Charice’s appeal can be attributed to her organic authenticity; she sings with such honesty and passion that even a casual listener cannot help but be moved.

The context behind this performance only grew more dramatic with David Foster’s revelation that, due to contractural issues related to the impending release of Charice’s new album, this would be the last time he would play for Charice, his protege and goddaughter. Foster wrote “I Have Nothing” for Houston’s iconic movie, The Bodyguard, and the medley of “I Have Nothing” and “I Will Always Love You” has long been one of Charice’s signature selections.

So, for the last time, here is Charice and David Foster performing The Bodyguard medley. There is only one word left to be said: Bravo!

In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?

Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.

I received this in an email about 16 hours ago and I am watching it again from your site.

These are the best performances of the Whitney songs that we have seen her deliver numerous times. ”I Will Always Love You” was the very first song I saw her perform on YouTube – THAT performance on Little Big Star as a 13 year old – and I then became obsessed with finding more of her songs on You Tube.

If you remember, Phil, Charice was OUR very first topic of discussion because when I discovered another huge fan (you) I jumped at the opportunity to have someone to talk to about her because while others agreed she was very talented, they didn’t share my gobsmackedness (is this a word? lol). This was before she went to Korea and performed ” Änd I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” in pigtails and a pink outfit, still very much a little girl.

And now, as you say, she is almost 20.

I feel like a proud aunty so I cannot begin to imagine how Falsevoice must be feeling, since he was the one who uploaded that Little Big Star video ,,, the one that first blew me away. Oprah was right when she said Charice was ”the most talented girl in the world”. And to think she lost a singing competition (Little Big Star) to two boys – who were first and second place – that no one can remember much about!!

No matter how much I enjoy her own new songs and latest covers, I regularly go back and watch Charice’s older performances, like the ones on Ellen and then Oprah because I never tire of them!

  2. Phil Bolsta Says:

I’m with you, Nicke. From the very beginning, I couldn’t help but marvel at Charice’s range and vocal prowess, not to mention her emotional investment in every song. You and I immediately felt like we were part of “the Charice family” of fans and supporters, and it’s been wonderful to see her accomplish so much in the past few years. Even so, I am a bit surprised that the rest of the world hasn’t yet discovered what is so obvious to so many of us Chasters: Charice is not only the voice of a generation, she is a global treasure.

  3. Nina Says:

That was incredible . She has the voice of an angel. Whitney would be proud. It made my day.

  4. Phil Bolsta Says:

Well said, Nina. An angel for the ages!
