Can’t Cope? Don’t Mope. Choose Hope!

The old saw is true: If you’re moping around, the best thing you can do for yourself is to do something nice for somebody else. Why? When you lift up someone else’s spirit, you lift up your own as well.

Moping around is a luxury you can ill afford. Short of dealing with clinical depression, mental illness or massive grief, why would you want to waste one minute feeling miserable when there are wonderful people just waiting to meet you and astonishing experiences just waiting for you to take that first step in their direction?

Don’t know where to begin? Start small. E-mail a kind word to a friend or two. When you genuinely try to brighten someone’s day, the sublight of spiritual service pours forth and dissipate your own gloom. Here are some ideas to get you started.

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.
Anne Frank

Never forget that you have the power right now, this instant, to abandon your pity party and celebrate life instead. If you choose to remain morose, then you are deriving some sort of value from feeling sorry for yourself. Is that a healthy attitude? Nope.

Begin now to develop a kindness habit. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. You will soon find out that they are one and the same.

To complain that life has no joys, while there is a single creature whom we can relieve by our bounty, assist by our counsels, or enliven by our presence, is to lament the loss of that which we possess, and is just as rational as to die of thirst with the cup in our hands.
Thomas Fitzosborne

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents on Amazon.

Order it at GodIsLogical.com.

In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?

Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.
