Precedence and Presidents

In an earlier post, I wrote about the astonishing synchronicity of two of the first three U.S. presidents dying on the same day . . . and on the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence no less! To top it all off, a third U.S. president died on the very same day five years later!

President John F. Kennedy

One-hundred thirty-seven years later, the death of another U.S. president was again one of three notable passings. On November 22, 1963, not only was John F. Kennedy assassinated, but two literary and intellectual giants chose that day to go to their heavenly rewards (although in light of the media coverage devoted to JFK, their deaths were probably barely noticed, particularly in the U.S.).

Irish author C. S. Lewis

Irish author C. S. Lewis, who, interestingly enough, was, like JFK, called “Jack” by his friends, also died that November day. Lewis is best known as the author of The Chronicles of Narnia, though he was also a literary critic, poet, academic, essayist and lay theologian. He died a week shy of his sixty-sixth birthday.

British author Aldous Huxley

Britain’s Aldous Huxley, best known for his novel, Brave New World, was a prolific poet and essayist who wrote film stories and scripts as well. Huxley was sixty-nine at the time of his passing. Like Lewis, Huxley was fascinated with religion and spirituality.

November 21, 1963 was the last day of America’s innocence and a passing of the torch in the literary world.

Phil’s eBook, The Logic of Living a Spiritual Life: Supporting a Life of Faith Through Logic and Reason, is now available for 99 cents on Amazon.

Order it at GodIsLogical.com.

In this eBook, you’ll find answers to questions like:
• What is the cornerstone of a spiritual life, and why?
• What is the secret to liberating yourself from other people’s judgments and expectations?
• Why is there an exception to “Everything happens for a reason”?

Those who worship logic instead of God are only half right. Not only is it logical to believe in God and to live a faith-based life, the existence of a loving, benevolent God that governs all creation is perhaps the only systematic worldview that explains every aspect of life.
