In church today, the minister offered a brief but instructive analogy. He said that every person’s life is like a chariot pulled by two horses. The chariot is your consciousness, one horse is your involvement in the material world, and the other horse is your spiritual efforts. You need your two horses to be in synch in order to stay on the road. If you’re too invested in the material world,  the chariot of your consciousness will veer to one side; if you’re too focused on your spiritual life at the expense of your earthly existence, the chariot will pull to the other side.
