Too Young to be Gone

In a long session at Ecopolitan last night with a University of Minnesota student who asked to interview me for her senior anthropology thesis on raw food, I mentioned that the author of a book on healthy eating had written over a decade ago that too many people were dying at fifty. Of course, I thought of my best friend, Neil, who even though he tried to stay fit, died of a massive heart attack last May just days after his fiftieth birthday.

Just hours after last night’s interview, I learned that my former brother-in-law, Tim, died unexpectedly in (more…)
