If you wonder why God allows people to do evil things to other people, what you’re really saying is that you don’t believe in free will. Throughout history, people with malicious intent have exercised their free will to hurt others. God does not directly interfere because, by definition, free will would be rendered meaningless if it were interfered with.

Yet, Divine intervention is also at work. The Divine is always speaking to you, guiding you, nudging you toward your highest good, but it is up to you whether or not you choose to listen. Both free will and divine intervention come down to this: You (more…)

I very much enjoyed this seventy-seven-minute talk by Caroline Myss (rhymes with “grace”), an author, medical intuitive and superstar on the spiritual lecture circuit. Presented in Phoenix in 2010, How Times of Change Influence Your Sacred Contracts is full of Caroline’s trademark wit, wisdom and sauciness (which I find delightfully endearing).

Why Bother to Pray for Others?

In Healing Words, Reinventing Medicine, and other books, Dr. Larry Dossey, who has spent years researching the relationship between prayer and healing, cites numerous scientific studies that strongly support the power of prayer.

Indeed, an intercessory prayer, when uttered with loving intention and unbroken attention, may mean the difference between life and death. Yet there are so many factors in play—the recipient’s karmic debts, sacred contracts, and will to live, to name a few—that your prayer may not appear to affect the ultimate outcome.
