Juggling Is Bliss

I had the pleasure of seeing two friends perform at Acme Comedy Company tonight. Minneapolis native Josh Weinstein and his buddy Chris Bliss teamed up for a special stand-up show as they’ve done a number of times in the past. Josh was the original Tom Servo in Mystery Science Theater 3000 and the head writer for Later With Greg Kinnear.

Both guys are very funny, but the highlight, as always, was Chris’ amazing juggling routine to close the show. Chris, who’s appeared seven times on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, opened for the Jacksons on their Victory Tour in 1984 with this routine, which is still fresh and astonishing even after all these years.

Funny how a virtuoso performance of any kind uplifts and inspires the human spirit. We walk away feeling better about life and better about ourselves. Not bad for a guy messing around with a few tennis balls!

thanks for the video, Phil – that was amazing!

what strikes me about this is the effect of music on the act – it is like the “soul” of the performance.

that must also drive his dog crazy … :-)

  2. Phil Bolsta Says:

Yes, ArrVee, Chris’ performance is the perfect mix of everything. That’s why it strikes such a chord in people!

  3. Rachel Says:

Maybe Roger Federer can learn from this guy when he retires from tennis.

  4. Phil Bolsta Says:

Good point, Rachel. I’m sure Roger will need another career option to put food on the table!
